Sorry, this one's gonna be short! First, I realize I haven't mentioned much about my companion yet, so I shall do that now. Elder Larsen is my favorite companion so far. He's a funny farmer kid who is very handy with many things. He's also not a bad cook and has tons of stories. Most of his stories have to do with crazy cows, but they're always at least funny in some way! He uses tons of weird words sometimes like wingdinger (was that it...?) and occasionally slips back into his Mater (from Cars) voice. He honestly thought when he was younger that Mater was the only car talking normal in that movie. He's very good at listening and a good guy to have around when the going gets tough. So there ya go, that's a little bit more about Elder Larsen.
Next, thank you very much mother for the package =) That was a funny letter that I wrote to myself. Definitely had to of been from seminary. By the way, I'm having trouble speaking English sometimes. Sometimes sentences seem weird to me or I'll use terms in Dutch, but say them in English. The missionaries here understand what I mean, so it's not like they ever correct me. But I'm afraid to go back to college and have crappy English every once in a while =) Just kidding, it's not that bad. But still.
So I've been six weeks in Amsterdam now and almost 7 months on my mission. Crazy. The work's going pretty good here. The really cool black guy who we've been teaching has actually moved out of our area now and should be technically taught by the sisters in that area. He still wants to come here to Amsterdam and talk with us though because he freakin loves us. He's got a baptismal date set for May 11th, but we've gotta get him going to church, off of smoking, off of alcohol, keeping the law of chastity, etc. He's all for it though and understands how important it is. So hopefully that goes well. The problem is just getting him to go to the church in Haarlem and talk with the Haarlem sisters, rather than here in Amsterdam. More on that next week probably.
Today, we got taken on a tour by a member of the ward (who's super crass and very liberal in his own ways) through Amsterdam. That was pretty cool because he knows tons of random facts and history and weird funny little stories. He used to actually be a tour guide and I think he still does it sometimes. So that was good.
Okay I love you guys a lot and thanks a ton for the emails! It's always good to hear from you guys, even if it's just simple stuff =) Thanks! Dui
