So I've got one friend who just went into the MTC, preparing to go to Ukraine. And another one of my friends just got his call to the Berlin, Germany mission! Crazy. Anyways, I have deemed us the Euro Clan (name still pending, as well as copyrights and trademark). So what do I write about this week.................. Well two, possibly three, of our investigators dropped us this week. One was just in it for the information and said he knew all he needed to know about our beliefs now, so don't come back. POO POO. Another was a young Syrian family who had friends in this Pentacostal church who spreads bad rumors about Mormons, so they won't talk to us now. And the third was this Turkish mom who's family made fun of her for being religious, so she doesn't want to talk to us anymore. Ironic in many ways, I know. BOOOOOOOO. Oh well though.... I get pretty sad though everytime I find people who I feel are so prepared for the Gospel and then they let stupid things get in the way. GAAAAYYYYYYY. Anyways, we've still got some great investigators though and a ton of Syrians to go talk to next week to give first lessons too. So we shall see how that all goes.
I've gotten a bunch of questions about Thanksgiving. They obviously don't celebrate it here =) Sorry guys. And the member families still don't really know what it is either, so we just had a normal dinner appointment that day with pannenkoeken. I ate inside of a disgusting house today. That was fun. The guy has got rats, birds, a cat, etc. And I swear he never cleans, uses showers sparingly, etc. I know I'm supposed to be really loving and all, but sometimes it's hard when you can't breathe through your nose. Cool guy though. He's a recently baptized guy who just moved from another city. He likes to chill with Elders on P days and eat pannenkoeken. And he's freakin obsessed with World of Warcraft.
They have basically three Christmases here. December 5th with Sinter Klas (or however you spell his name), December 25th (more popular with Christians, but still celebrated), and December 26th.... And I have no idea what the story is with that last one yet. Anyways, we continue to find new ways to decorate our house and we've begun making plans for a possible sleepover with the Enschede Elders here and for some fun games. And I'm super excited to get your guys' package! Let me know if you guys want me to use my personal money to buy some gifts and send them home? I don't really know how much it costs to send things home. But let me know what ya'll think. Especially for the birthday people. Also, what would you guys want? I've found a few interesting things, but I don't really know what you guys would actually want. So yeah, lemme know.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS!!! I heard he's already got the day planned out and put emphasis on you guys getting him presents =D Classic. Too bad he's gonna miss me kicking his butt on Super Smash Bros. on his birthday. I would have enjoyed that, but I'm sure he's probably still sore from the last time. Heh heh =D
Next, my new companion is killing me a bit.......... I'll be honest. He just has such a different way of contacting that it's hard for me to get used to. The people are especially closed off in our area of our mission. So I work really hard at doing "comebacks" where you try and give people more opportunities to invite you to come back. You have to really think fast though and apply it to them somehow. You're essentially trying to build interest without being rude and also asking them questions. I find it really fun and also really effective. But Elder Nielsen often interrupts me, starts saying bye and walking off, or just not even really trying. So that gets on my nerves pretty hard sometimes, but I still love him. He's a cool guy. We just gotta get used to contacting with each other.
Okay love you all. Life's good. Hope everything is going well with everyone. Thanks for the prayers and I'm praying for you all as well. People come up with some interesting arguments sometimes about the Church, but they really never have a good reason. Definitely thankful for the faith and knowledge that I have. Love you guys, bye bye!!
