Well, this week Elder Johnson got super sick again. Bleh. It was just a really bad cold, but it laid me out for a few days. The cool part was that I felt strongly that I should ask for a priesthood blessing. So I asked my companion and we both felt the Spirit really strong during it. Heavenly Father always asks something of us so that we can open the door more to Him and allow Him to bless us. For me, he asked me to have enough faith.
So that night I felt like I was gonna die. Just kidding, but it's super freakin hot here and they don't have air conditioning. And I couldn't sleep for most of the night, basically just going around the house trying to find ways to suppress all of my symptoms. I prayed most of the night and thought about what it really meant to have faith.
Since faith is really a verb that requires us to do things (just like how we use laying on of hands, baptism, bread and water, reading scriptures, going to church, etc. all physical things that require literal action), I knew I needed to put my trust in Him and try to go to our appointments the next day. So I prayed, studied, prepared, and then we went for it. After going to our appointments, I was pretty sure that my body wanted to give up the ghost, just kidding.
But I was definitely given enough strength to at least get through what we needed to do. And to me, that was a big blessing. I really don't think that could have happened without me exercising faith by first asking for the blessing and then doing my half of the deal. Plus, then we just saw a bunch of other little tender mercies including where an American member was actually in the area and brought me American medicine (thank freakin goodness).
And thus, I have come to a better understanding of Faith and how the Atonement really helps in any possible situation. Testimony leveled up. Or something like that.
Thanks for the emails and I love you guys a ton! Vijne week!!
