Well it looks like I freaked you all out. Sorry =) The good news is that I have much more energy today. Too much possibly... Last night, our daily planning session was super quick so Elder Yocom, Elder Evans, and I ended up locking each other out of the house, turning all the lights off and scaring each other, and trying to find some creature I almost stepped on outside. We have a really crappy backyard that's all overgrown with vines and plants and crap, so you can't tell much what's on the ground. There's also a little canal behind our house and that's where the creature ran to... I'll let you know if there are any more sightings.
So we're basically going to Belgium every single week now. We have to do tons of legality trips down there because of a bunch of new missionaries recently coming in. We'll have a new group of 23 coming in December. Going down to Belgium's pretty cool because it's so pretty, but now it's just becoming normal to me because we go there so often. Belgian waffles are still delicious though. I should probably be taking more pictures.... Sorry. That'll come.
I gotta apologize though for freaking you guys out. I think it's just a little moment after being so long on your mission. Plus I'm already writing emails everyday, it just gets boring sometimes. But yes, in answer to all of your questions, I do indeed have a rash. It's just bothersome, nothing too serious. But I would appreciate getting some Aquaphor as soon as possible. So whatever gets that here fastest, without spending too much money, would be great. If that is coming with the Christmas package, can you just make sure that I can open the box really quick to get the Aquaphor and then close it up without seeing my presents? =) Thanks. Don't wanna ruin Christmas =)
I'm considering a lot of career options right now. Being in the office, makes me wonder if I need to use these skills in some capacity. I don't know. I still really wanna be involved with writing music somehow though.... We'll see.
Elder Yocom's mom got me a bunch of really nice stuff inside of his package the other day! She wrote a really nice Thanksgiving card, got two cute little Christmas plaque things, a big jar of candy, etc. Make sure to tell her thanks for me please!!
Dad should be proud of me right now. I've been listening to Christmas music for two weeks already! I was thinking about those Trans-Syberian Orchestra concerts recently and how crazy those were. Are you guys gonna try and go to something again this year? Any cool plans coming up for Thanksgiving?
Does Chris have the plague? What's going on with him lately?
So here's a freakin amazing miracle from this week: A few weeks ago, two elders contacted this South Korean lady on the street. She stopped and told them she was shocked. She said that her name was Kim Karen (FYI, South Korean names have the last name first) and that she had just been praying to God, asking Him how she could have contact with Him. So Karen comes home from work everyday, walking the same way every time. But on this day, she felt like she needed to walk on the other side of the street. She recognized how big of a miracle this all was and so she said that we could come over and teach her some time, but Elder Lyman and Elder Bishop were getting transferred out of the city, so they said that the three of us would come.
A few days go by and then one night I get a call and it's Karen! She says that she's a little nervous to have three strangers come over to her house, so I tell her that she can just meet us at church on Sunday. She was pretty excited for that, so we waited for her to come. Two weeks go by and she didn't come either time and wasn't answering our calls..... Then last Sunday, our dinner appointment unfortunately got dropped due to family health problems. So we're all bummed, but we decide to try go looking up Karen.
She opens the door and is actually pretty happy to see us, but like she said before, she's afraid to let three strangers in to her house. So for at least four minutes, she goes off (in perfect Dutch by the way, she grew up here) about how she's seen a bunch of tv shows about serial killers being really nice, good looking people, who come in your house, and then kill you. I'm pretty sure we could've killed her several times during those four minutes. But whatever. So we talk about her coming to church this Sunday and then we go. So there's a couple of intersections and a bit of a long walk back to our car. We get in, start to drive off, and then I say, "Ha ha, what if that lady right there was her?" And then the lady stoops down a bit to look in through our windshield as we come by. It's Karen.
So she tells us that she wants to go on a walk and talk with us actually. We ended up finding a bench and all got to know each other. But she told us that after we left, she went back inside and felt like the room was brighter. So she turned off the lights and the fireplace and still felt like the room was brighter. She said that she felt like she needed to talk with us then and felt that we had a very important message to share with her. And that we did!! She was just so grateful to have met us and everything, so she ended up inviting us to walk over to her house and teach her there.
It was one of those lessons, where she just asked the perfect questions and was totally prepared to receive that lesson. It went great and then she started to tell us how she felt like this was also helping her to realize what she should do with her career, like it was opening up her mind. It was really cool to hear her talk about it. Then she prayed and gave probably the best non-member prayer I have ever heard, saying like 20 principles that we hadn't even taught her yet, and then closing her prayer in a way that only Dutch Mormons do. It was crazy. It's just amazing to see how receptive she is to the promptings of the Spirit, especially because she gives absolute heed to them without questioning it. She of course still wants to take things a bit slow before she accepts a baptismal invitation, but I have got some pretty high hopes for her!
So there's that miracle.
Any thoughts on what I should do for work when I get back? I'm pretty confused at this point. Any counsel would be appreciated.
Love you guys, have a great week!
