Previously on 24..... Just kidding. So this country is terrifying as it gets closer and closer to summer. The girls need to cover up more!!! Not to mention the art and advertisements here. As far as museums go, when you guys come here, be prepared. A lot of the museums have art from all over the world and different cultures and stuff. Like the Tropenmuseum that we went to today. It was SUPER cool with all of the different cultural stuff, but also hilarious how every culture makes it so apparent which figurines and pieces of art and whatnot are boys or girls. Made for some super hilarious/awkward times with the sister missionaries. Oh jeez.... I thought us guys just had it hard all the time here in Europe, but these museums have some crazy weird stuff for the sister missionaries to fear as well. Also, the Tropenmuseum had a whole floor about racism between blacks and whites. Mainly about the Zwarte Piet debates, but I'll have to tell you guys about that some time after I'm home unless you guys wanna look it up. I'm too lazy to explain it through an email.
So I'm now on my tenth week or so in Amsterdam. Things get tricky in a couple weeks... Either Elder Larsen or I will leave, or we'll both stay (obviously, but wait). There's more of a chance that one of us is gonna leave this transfer.... I hope I getta stay. I really really wanna stay. I love this city a ton. But I'll do whatever I need to. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm trying to see if I can get info out of the AP's though...
But let's talk about King's Day. CRAZINESS!!! We had two booths going on with us 8 Amsterdam missionaries on this street that isn't really inside the centrum, so we weren't by the craziness near as much, but wait. So on King's Day, everybody and everything is orange. So much flippin orange!!!! I got a crappy $2 tie though that is a flippin awesome King's Day tie =) Anyways, we had these booth's set up on this street where tons of people just set up all up and down these streets and sell tons of random stuff, especially orange things. It was a pretty awesome experience to see everything. Also, some Mormons from Chicago and Utah found us! Side note: I've had several random experiences with Mormons on vacation here. Pretty cool, especially when they show up out of nowhere and give you a ride back from King's Day after you're super exhausted. WARNING: They're a really nice older couple named the Clay's and they want to drop by the house and visit sometime. I figured that would be okay, plus it would've been awkward to say no. But just warning you guys =) They should have a picture or two of me on their camera. They're really nice and a cool couple. Resume: Then there were a tons of visitor Mormons from around the world the next day in Church. King's Day was on Saturday by the way. And we went to church, I talked to a few people about King's Day, and this one guy who has drinking and smoking problems, told me how freakin crazy it was with everybody inside the centrum. We went and looked up a referral there after church, and sure enough, there were tons and tons of broken beer bottles everywhere and the streets were just covered in trash. This city knows how to party. Oh and on King's Day, there were also a lot of concerts and raves you could here going on everywhere and the different venues.
Oh and I recovered from my sickness mostly by now. I actually slept mostly all of Sunday and Monday. Half of Tuesday, got out for like an hour. Got out for several hours on Wednesday. Then the whole day on Thursday and ever since. That flu sucked!!! And of course it turned into a cold. My sore throat had been keeping up me up most nights, so I sorta became nocturnal. Now, I just still have a bit of a sore throat and a cough. Pretty much healthy though.
We'll be going to the temple tomorrow, which I'm super excited for!!! Also Keukenhof, which is the really pretty and famous Tulip Gardens. I'll make sure to take some pretty pictures =)
